New Church Building Progress

June 26, 2019 – The building is complete and we hope to have our first service this Sunday, June 30! We are only waiting for the final inspections and occupancy permit from Kitsap County.

April 30, 2019 – The new building is nearly complete! Only a few small things are left to do. We hope to have our first worship service on Sunday, May 19. In the sanctuary, the tableau is complete. This wall rises up behind the chancel platform, right in back of the altar. The rough-cut douglas fir planking is painted with a light whitewash to allow the grain to show, and the grooves cut in the wood give the tracery effect of a cross.

April 18, 2019 – The landscapers are putting in the plants in the bioretention cells.

April 14, 2019 – The building is almost finished. Finishing work is being done inside on the doors, trim, cabinets, and bathrooms. On Sunday we moved our chairs in so they’ll be ready when the sanctuary is finished. Unfortunately the building won’t be finished for Easter Day, but the following Sunday (April 28) we hope to be in.

March 29, 2019 – The parking lot is paved. Tile and carpet are nearly complete, and finishing work is being done inside the building.

March 20, 2019 – Gravel is being laid in the parking lot with paving to follow next week. At the same time, the flooring is being laid inside, and electricians and plumbers are nearing completion of their work.

March 11, 2019 – The interior painting is nearly complete, and electricians are installing lights, outlets, and switches, as well as wiring for the parking lot lights.

December 30, 2018 the interior walls and ceilings have been completely sheetrocked.

November 13, 2018 Sheetrock is being hung in the office areas. Electricians continue to work in the other parts of the building.

November 13, 2018 The electrical contractors are at work doing the rough-in electrical work.

November 11, 2018 The exterior paint is applied by the painting contractor.

September 15, 2018 – The roof is now on the Events Shelter. Inside the church, the electricians have brought power into the building and are starting to extend electrical wiring to the rooms.

August 20, 2018 – The siding is complete on the east side of the church.

August 10, 2018 – The big timbers of the events shelter are bolted into place.

July 26, 2018 – The windows in the steeple have been installed. We’re still waiting for electrical power to be brought into the building and for electrical rough-in work.

July 23, 2018 – Construction progress has slowed because subcontractors and supplies are in short supply in Kitsap County. We are waiting for doors and windows to arrive before the siding can be applied. We are waiting for electrical power to be supplied to the building and for electricians to begin wiring. The fire sprinkler system is being installed and gravel is being laid for the parking lot.

July 1, 2018 – The building has been wrapped in Tyvek paper.

June 30, 2018 – The roof is shingled, windows are in, siding is going on, and most of the work being done is inside now. The plumber is nearly done with rough-in plumbing and the heating system is nearly in place. The water main for fire suppression has been brought into the building. Next up: rough-in electrical work and the piping for the sprinkler system.

June 27, 2018 – Workmen climb into the steeple to measure for windows.

May 25, 2018 – The shingles are going on the roof and the heating ducts are being installed inside.

May 11, 2018 – The plywood sheathing of the building is nearly complete.

April 18, 2018 – The spacious interior of the church can now be visualized.

April 18, 2018 – The profile of the church can be seen from the rear.

April 18, 2018 – The roof panels are going on.

April 12, 2018 – The crane is setting the main girders over the sanctuary.

The walls are going up and the trusses are being installed.

March 15, 2018 – The walls are up and the trusses are being installed.

February 17, 2018 – The walls are being framed up for the offices in the northwest corner of the building.

January 31, 2018 – The cement floor for the events shelter is poured

January 30, 2018 – The carpenters move a beam for the narthex.

January 25, 2018 – The interior walls are being framed up.

January 12, 2017 – The walls are going up.

January 2, 2018 – The floor slab is poured and leveled.

December 14, 2017 – The footings for the events shelter are being poured.

December 12, 2017 – The wire mesh for the concrete slab is going in. Almost ready to pour the slab.

December 1, 2017 – The base gravel and post forms for the outdoor events shelter are in place.

November 21, 2017 – In steady rain, workers are filling the inside of the foundation with fine gravel and compacting as they go.

November 15, 2017 – The underground pipes for the roof drains are going in. The septic system and parking lot are under construction also.

November 1, 2017 – The stem walls have been poured, insulation and sewer pipes are going in.

October 16, 2017 – The footings have been poured and the stem wall forms are being installed.

September 15, 2017 – Rebar is being wired into the concrete forms.

August 29, 2017 – Concrete forms for the footings are in place.

July 28, 2017 – Construction stakes have been placed and sod has been removed for the rain gardens for the new parking lot. You can see the contractor’s trailer set up by the building site.
